What comes next?
It's been a chaotic year both at home and abroad. I wish we could say the new year will be different, that you will find solid ground in certainty and the ability to predict and plan.
Sadly, such a promise would be misleading. Weak governance at home will be buffeted by purposeful governments abroad. Economic, technological, geo-political and climate upheavals will continue to test and challenge us.
We live in chaotic times, and the art of corporate and organisational management is to learn how to navigate and negotiate the chaos.
Jericho has long recognised a world in which control must give way to curation. What matters is how you become alive to the new ideas and forces through the alliances and networks you build. To be adaptable and agile. The constant volatility demands openness, humility and imagination. And some risk.
This is not a comfortable or easy place to be – but the world isn't like that anymore. We've enjoyed the challenge of helping clients adapt culturally and structurally to the unpredictable. Nowhere more so than with our ongoing work on global responsible tax with KPMG International, in which we've had to face a world of tariffs, trade disputes and the disruption of global institutions.
We have found pathways and common ground through challenging dialogue and shared analysis in spaces curated by Jericho. There is always light and purpose to be found.
Business & Democracy: New Report
We found in our work on business and democracy (the Commission we've been working on with IPSOS and the CIPR) how firms navigate the seemingly endless political pressures to either do something, everything or nothing. The final report from the Commission will be published in the new year and if you'd like to come along to the special launch, do drop Becky a line.
The Jericho Table
Finally, as we look to say goodbye to the old year and welcome the new, Jericho is looking to open up a new space - ‘a strategic circle’ where companies and organisations can share their experiences and views on the challenges and opportunities of operating in all the chaos and confusion we now find ourselves in. If you want to hear more, please do get in touch.
For now, we wish you some peace and tranquilly for the holiday season and look forward to working with you in all the wonder of the new year.
